Sheringham Beach and Cliff Tour
If you follow the promenade along you will come across a shop and some more beach huts. These huts are solidly built, permanent huts, with balconies which overlook the beach.
If you continue along, the prom ends at the Lifeboat Shed, which is a working Lifeboat and the men who man this boat have saved many lives over the years, as a town we are Very Proud of each and every one of these men who risk their own lives to save others.
Here the beach is pebbly until the tide goes out and then it reveals the glorious golden sand so good to play on. You will often see the game of football, volleyball & tennis being enjoyed or Frisbee throwing, cricket and just plain running around.
The whole length of the promenade is disabled friendly, there are ways to go which do not involve steps, although a couple of the slopes are a touch steep.
When you leave the beach, if you come up and under the arch, at the top you will find some truly beautiful gardens, with shelters which face both over the gardens and out to sea. Built into the arch are Public conveniences.
Walk westwards through the gardens and there is a huge Boating Lake which anyone can use and also here you will find access to the clifftop walks to Weybourne and beyond.

To the east of the arch there is a large grassed area which is used often by the town, especially during our Carnival, for events. It is also the ideal spot for a picnic, the road is not busy and you can overlook the sea. It is quite peaceful here, never gets too overcrowded and is a great place for the children to run around. There are no shops here, but there is a public house where you can get refreshments and often an ice-cream van at the top of the slope.
At the end of the grassed area is a free play park for the children to let off steam, with swings, climbing frame, slides etc. It is fenced and has a gate, so there is no chance of the little ones running into the road.
You can get back down onto the prom here as there are steps leading down. So after your picnic, you can walk the prom in reverse and see all of our glorious promenade, beach and shore for yourself.
There are many places and things of interest along our prom and many activities are held there throughout the year. The beach is an important part of our community and we use it well. We have the Beach Mission for youngsters every summer, during the Carnival season there are beach sports and games for young children. The Salvation Army holds services on the prom, even for the non-religious it is wonderful to sit overlooking the sea and listen to the band playing with a background of the water washing over the pebbles.
