REGIS - SHERINGHAM NORFOLK UK |
 |
Priory Maze and gardens
offer a chance to explore 10 acres of tranquillity, and to enjoy varying aspects of the
changing gardens. |
The gardens
include natural running water, ponds, wild flower
meadows, herb and aromatic gardens, pine walk, seaside garden and herbaceous beds, all of
which have a close link to nature and various wildlife visitors. Norfolk's only
traditional hedge maze gives you the chance to lose yourself for a while and enjoy the
relaxed atmosphere.
We also have an interesting plant centre and tea rooms, both of which are worth a visit in
their own right, and have free access. |
| The natural
feel of the gardens, and the diverse plant habitat it provides, in turn creates a perfect
habitat for a wide range of mammals, birds, and insects. We have resident pheasants,
woodcock, snipe, kingfisher and goldcrests, along with many other regulars. We have also
recently seen waxwings, firecrest, crossbills and tree creepers. The wildflower meadow
provides habitat for countless moths and and other insects during mid summer, and in the
early summer, we have bee orchids and the common marsh orchid in abundance. |
The meadow and banks give a
summer long display of colour. The early camassias followed by cowslips, gradually build
up to its peak in mid July, when the bank is in full splendour.
We have a unique advantage in what is predominately a sandy soil area, in that we have
constant running water throughout the garden. The two ponds provide the further
tranquillity of larger expanses of water. |

Our new tearooms opened in
December 2003. Our 70 seater Scandinavian log cabin is already becoming an attractive
venue in its own right, due to its fabulous ambience and the comprehensive range of mainly
home made fayre on offer. |
Along with our extensive newly laid out tea
gardens, we are able to provide a warm meal in cosy surroundings on the coldest of days,
or a refreshing drink and light snack al fresco on a warm day.
Large parties can be comfortably catered for. Look out for our summer evening barbecues
and garden events. |
