| Provide
First Aid Cover for a variety of events - skateboarding, concerts, festivals,
theatre performances, fetes, organised walks, open air performances, carnival events,
horse riding shows, North Norfolk Railways. We do most of our duties in Sheringham but also go to Sandringham Flower
Festival, Hunstanton Vibe FM Live Show, Overstrand, Cromer, Mannington Hall and Norwich
Theatre Royal among others.
Offer First Aid Courses
to the general public and to local organisations. This year (2001) we have trained
two Brownie packs at Saxthorpe and Aylsham in the basics of first aid.
We have trained adults with learning
disabilities to enable them to achieve the First Aid Option of the Gateway Award which is
similar to the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Undergo Training Ourselves.
This year we have taken courses in manual and casualty handling.
Each year we take an essential skills (resuscitation) exam. We are currently
undertaking a Care Course. Our nursing officer is giving training for this. We
have to renew our First Aid at Work qualification every three years.
Fundraise, as we are a
charity and receive no government support. Members are not paid for
their services and give all of their time free of charge. We have annual Flag Day -
which will be on 6th April 2002 (please give generously).
We also run Tombolas, sell books and have
the occasional Jumble Sale. Our hall is let out, which raises a substantial amount
of income and helps us to maintain the hall.
We receive donations from many of the
events we cover.
Loan out equipment such
as wheelchairs and mobility aids to anyone who needs them
Give talks and demonstrations
to local organisations
HAVE FUN meet people
(2001 Prince Charles and Kenny Ball), make friends and enjoy ourselves.
Do lots of paperwork
filling out forms, correspondence etc.
